Billie Eilish and her brother, Finneas O’Connell, have once again won an Oscar for Best Original Song. This time, it’s for their hauntingly existential ballad “What Was I Made For” from the movie “Barbie.”

A Second Oscar for the Duo

This marks Eilish and O’Connell’s second Oscar win, following their victory in 2022 for the James Bond theme song “No Time to Die.”

A Season of Success

“What Was I Made For” has been a consistent winner throughout awards season, taking home the Golden Globe and Grammys for Song of the Year and Best Song Written for Visual Media.

Other Nominees

The competition for Best Original Song was fierce, with nominees including “Wahzhazhe (A Song for My People)” from “Killers of the Flower Moon,” “It Never Went Away” from “American Symphony,” and “The Fire Inside” from “Flamin’ Hot.”

Ken’s Perspective

Another hit from the “Barbie” soundtrack, “I’m Just Ken,” performed by Ryan Gosling, also failed to win. As Ken himself sings, “Doesn’t seem to matter what I do — I’m always number two.”

Streaming Availability

“Barbie” is now available to stream on Max.
