Apple is known for adopting features that its competitors have had for a while. Now, it looks like Apple Maps might be getting a custom routes feature.

A file called “CustomRouteCreation” was found in the Maps back-end, which is linked to the upcoming iOS 18. This suggests that Apple Maps may soon allow users to create their own custom routes, rather than just using the ones suggested by the app.

This feature has been available on Google Maps for a while, and it’s a welcome addition to Apple Maps. It will give users more flexibility and control over their navigation.

We’ll likely get confirmation of this rumored feature at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference in June, where the company will showcase iOS 18 and its other upcoming software updates.
