Google’s AI chatbot, formerly known as Bard, will soon be available on Android smartphones through Google Messages. The company announced this news at Mobile World Congress (MWC) on Monday.

Beta Testing

Gemini is currently in beta testing, and users over 18 can add it to their messaging app. However, the chatbot is only available in English in certain markets and in French within Canada.

Within Messages, Gemini can be used to write drafts, plan events, or just have a chat. To use Gemini, you’ll need a Google account, the latest version of the Google Messages app, and a Pixel 6 or later, Pixel Fold, Samsung Galaxy S22 or later, or the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip or Z Fold.

Recent Controversy

Gemini has recently come under scrutiny. Last week, it was found to be generating pictures of Nazi soldiers as people of color. Google has since apologized for this issue.
