What to Expect

A new leak suggests that Sony is planning to release a PS5 Pro console by the 2024 holiday season.

The leaked documents reveal some exciting specs for the PS5 Pro:

  • Improved and consistent FPS at 4K resolution
  • A new “performance mode” for 8K resolution
  • Accelerated ray tracing
  • PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) for upscaling images

The PS5 Pro is expected to be significantly faster than the original PS5, with:

  • 45% faster rendering speed
  • 3x the performance increase in GPU
  • 2x to 3x the ray tracing performance

Release Date and Availability

The leak suggests a late 2024 release, but delays are possible. Devkits have been available to first-party studios since September 2023 and third-party developers since January 2024.

If the leak is accurate, PlayStation fans can expect a powerful new console later this year. Hopefully, supply chain issues will be less of a problem this time around, making it easier for gamers to get their hands on the PS5 Pro.
